Learn about Afterschool Ad Campaign

The support of a school board or superintendent, city council, mayor, governor, or Congressional representative can make the critical difference in the success of afterschool in your community. Contacting local, state and national leaders may be a little intimidating compared to chatting with neighbors and friends, but keep in mind that these individuals are working for you, and your community.

You might start by calling your school, principal or superintendent to ask about afterschool in your community, then call, write, e-mail or meet with your leaders to let them know how important afterschool programs are to the communities they represent. Ask how they are supporting afterschool programs and whether they are working toward afterschool for all children.

Use our Afterschool Alliance Action Center to send an automatic email message about afterschool to your representatives in Congress. Simply enter your zip code in the box and follow the Action Center prompts. You can also choose to generate a personalized letter to print and send yourself.

NOTE: By using this system, your email address will not be compromised or in any way shared for marketing purposes.

Tips for using Action Center:

  • Have your email message or letter ready so you can cut and paste the text into the Action Center form. Use the tips and sample letter to help construct your message.
  • If you want to print your letter and mail it yourself, simply select the letter option. Be sure to sign your letter when you send it.
